HIPRA highlights VAX4ASF at ESPHM 2026 in Florence

HIPRA showcases VAX4ASF at one of Europe’s leading swine health events, highlighting innovative approaches to African swine fever prevention and vaccine development

HIPRA recently participated in the European Symposium of Porcine Health Management (ESPHM 2026), held in Florence, Italy, one of the most important European events dedicated to porcine health management and veterinary innovation.

The congress brought together more than 1,400 professionals from across the sector, including veterinarians, researchers, industry representatives, and leading European companies involved in swine health and production.

As coordinator of the European project VAX4ASF, HIPRA used this international meeting point to showcase the project and present its official explanatory video, which generated strong interest among attendees. The presentation highlighted the project’s ongoing work towards the development of safe and effective solutions against African swine fever (ASF), one of the most significant animal health challenges currently affecting the global swine sector.

“ESPHM 2026 has been a key opportunity to bring together leading companies and European references from the swine sector to advance towards a more efficient, sustainable, and responsible production model, consolidating itself as one of the most relevant veterinary events at European level,” stated Ignacio Bernal, Swine Business Director at HIPRA.

VAX4ASF gains visibility among the European swine health community

The symposium provided an excellent setting for scientific exchange and collaboration, with a comprehensive programme featuring keynote lectures, scientific sessions, roundtable discussions, and networking activities focused on current and future challenges in porcine health management.

As part of the congress scientific programme, HIPRA participated in a presentation focused on a practical case study analysing the productive and economic consequences associated with  swine conditions such as Verotoxin Associated Diseases, reinforcing the importance of prevention and innovation in modern swine health management.

From vaccine innovation to disease management strategies

Participation in ESPHM 2026 is part of VAX4ASF’s broader commitment to scientific dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and international collaboration. Through events such as this, the project continues to strengthen dialogue with the veterinary and research communities while increasing awareness about the importance of innovative vaccine development and coordinated disease prevention strategies against ASFV.
